Thanks for asking, Shad. She’s slow. She’s clearly uncomfortable. Not as bad as the end of the day yesterday, but she needs help. Trying to get her into the avian vet today.

Her comb is usually a vibrant red. Now it’s more like a yucky, unripe grocery store tomato.
Please keep us posted. Obviously we are concerned. Hopefully you can help her. :hugs :hugs

Concerned about Phyllis

All day yesterday Phyllis was zipping around the yard. Messing with Hattie by jumping back and forth over the little fence. Running between my legs and into the house. Just her usual pesky self.

As we sat watching the chicks go to bed I started to get very concerned about Phyllis. She was sitting low with her neck all the way down. Phyllis is a tall walker with her head high. She was only half heartedly pecking at grass and spent a lot of time standing still.

So I grabbed her up and checked her over. I was concerned that she might be egg bound. No physical signs of anything.

So I told Mrs BY Bob that it was likely that she just needed to lay her egg but it was too late in the evening so she was going to hold it in until morning. And secretly I prayed that I was right.

I feel asleep on the couch last night and woke up after midnight needing to go to bed. I did however realize that I had not closed the coop complex up. So i headed out to close them and figured I would check on Phyllis. There it was. I cracked egg right underneath her. I guess she could not hold it all night.

She is back to her old photo bombing self today getting into every picture I try to take. :love

Oh my goodness Bob; what a traumatic time for you both.
It was something to go through at 22 years old for sure. We were discussing it today, for obvious reasons, and are amazed that we got through it. You just don't even think about it at the time. You just keep doing what has to be done. It's only when you look back that you see what you did that you appreciate the enormity of it.
