Please keep us posted. Obviously we are concerned. Hopefully you can help her. :hugs :hugs
Thanks, Bob. I just heard back from the Avian Vet. With the pale comb and dark poops, the first thought is that she may have ingested metal, so they’re taking an x-ray. Duh why didn’t I think of that? They’ll also look at her poop. I’m not sure how this is going to end, friends, this could possibly be Roxy’s last day, depending on what they find.

Bob, what a crazy story! Amazing. You two must be very close.

My brother suffered a stroke at 40 due to patent foramen ovale, so I am slightly familiar with the recovery. Poor Rose. I’m so glad she has you.❤
I am equally glad to have her. Trust me it is mutual.

I never thought of that either. I hope whatever it is is fixable

Thank you, Bob. I usually err on the side of treating the bird. However, in this case, she may be in severe pain, she’s clearly uncomfortable, and there may not be treatment. It may be kindest to end her suffering today. I’ll keep you posted.

With shelter-in-place, I’m not sure I’ll get to say goodbye. I still think I might need to let her go. My heart hurts.

I went through this on Thursday. I was sure that my cat Isabel was in pain and that it was time. Thankfully it wasn't so but the thought of them doing it without me holding her was unbearable. Sometimes I think COVID is taking too much from us.

Roxy update: No metal. it’s an intestinal issue of some kind… She’s bloated and gassy and likely bleeding, since she’s very anemic and has a lot of inflammation cells. We could try to treat her with barium and antibiotic, but there’s no guarantee. And the could also be cancer, even though that didn’t show up on the x-ray. I’m not sure what to do. To try the barium and antibiotic and take her home or to just end it. I need to make a decision and get back to them.
