I often have a chicken sneeze for a few days. I usually just watch them for a few days, especially if everything else is normal.

I found a salve here is the states that is menthol, rose, and tea tree oil and you rub on the comb and waddles to help with any allergies. I used it in the spring when it was so cold and wet and it seemed to help.
That is interesting. And it seemed to work for them?

I’ve been looking on the forums but I’m going to ask here too. Does anyone have any experience with sneezing chickens? Nyssa has been sneezing for a few days, but no-one else is. Her eyes and nostrils are clear. She’s moulting, could dander be getting up her nostrils? It rained massively during the week and I suspect some of the bedding is damp so I am going to change it today. I dust the bedding with mite dust, but no-one else is sneezing. Any thoughts?
I can't say that I have ever had a hen sneeze more than once. I've never had it go a couple of days. I feel lucky in that way. Hattie did sneeze all over me once. I was actually wet from it.

I don't know that I can help more than watch her behavior closely. Maybe someone else that has more experience than I do can weigh in.

Beetov-Hen used to sneeze quite often. But after I removed all the Deep litter and changed it to new shavings, she didn't have that problem anymore. I have had birds die from illness caused by respiratory problems. (So I didn't take any chances) Spent the money, and did the work. RIP "Sunshine, BeeBees,"

Hello again. As I predicted, I'm not too good at posting. But I do still try to keep up on reading this thread, which is always enjoyable, especially the photos. The green legs are very cool, btw!

Anyway, here are some pictures of my three.

Last year one of mine (I can't even remember who it was now) had a sneezing event (maybe a day or so).
Of course I went into full on 'dying chicken' panic (fueled it must be said by a lot of posts on BYC health threads) but common sense told me she wasn't really sick based on how she was behaving between sneezes, so I just watched and waited and it just resolved on its own.
Dust? Allergies? Who knows, but it didn't come back.

I checked her eyes and nostrils again, they are crystal-clear. I will still keep a close eye on her.

Aww, gorgeous girls, cuddly too! :love

LOL... “plushbottom”. :lau That has now entered my vocabulary, along with “cuddle-puddle” and “fluffy screeching pancake”.

You are correct. That study I sent has nothing to do with COVID. It is from before COVID ever existed. It is specifically about the worst form of antimicrobial resistance.

You are right about the virus. It can be hard to build a vaccine as the outer coat of the virus can be variable.
Ah, I misunderstood then. For some reason I thought the study was Covid related. I'll put that down to a senior moment on my part then.:p

I’m glad you said that Shad; if a learned man such as yourself struggled to understand it, I don’t feel quite so thick. :p
There is nothing to be ashamed of if one struggles a bit with such studies. The shame is those who can't admit they don't know, or don't understand things. Such people don't learn because they don't and can't ask.
My physics tutor used to tell me you've understood when you can do it; any fool can repeat what they read. I live with such fools so I feel qualified to comment.:p
