How is she today?
She's better but not the full ticket. It's way too hot for her to be outside if she struggles walking at any point. That extra effort, particularly if she's in pain could just make things worse. It's 38C and that's not a temperature you want to be feeling unwell in.

I want to be particularly clear, it is NOT hijacking the thread to talk about your chickens and especially your loss. That's one of the things this thread has become. A community of people sharing stories and experiences both good and bad. If you want to talk about your dear Ben then by all means go ahead. We would love to hear stories about him and support you at this time.

:hugs:hugs
Thank you Bob.

It makes me miss him so much more, by not knowing!
It's nice to be able to bury them; for me anyway. I've had a few adults just disappear over the years. I search for them, or any signs of a strike site but some just seem to vanish. I've always suspected dogs. Only dogs and foxes carry off chickens without a trace here.
I would like to have the same policy here that they do on the next mountain. If you see a dog not on a lead on your property you shoot it. No ifs, no buts.

I have a three meter tall fence, surrounding my entire property. Only the gate is two meters tall.
BEN is not one, to fly over any fence. It's very much a puzzle as to how he could just disappear this way. I'm still in a state of shock. I have checked the perimeter for any sign of a breach, or holes dug under the fence anywhere. He sure was a good rooster!🐔

I'm so sorry. It's horrible when they just disappear like that. :hugs
