Is it possible that chickens can fall out of love with me? I don't seem to get the same responses, that I used to get? No interest in lap sitting, and the hens seem more stand offish than usual. It feels like, they don't want to be touched. (But they still eat from my hand)
Very unusual for my flock to act this way.
You know what? My flock is like that right now, too. I chalk it up to molting and being off lay. They will be cuddle loves again.

I’ve stopped eating chicken (mostly), it just feels wrong. Hubby (who is vegetarian) says “It’s not like it’s anyone you know!”
Same here. I don’t buy chicken and only eat it if it will go to waste otherwise. I can’t bear that.

Perhaps they are in mourning too? :hugs

Any change to the flock will affect the flock dynamics and therefore flock behaviour. Hopefully with time they will get used to this new normal.

How is Jaffar? Is he still being your alarm clock?
Good point. This could be the issue.

Oh I think you under-estimate me! She is Janet. And Janet is a Barnevelder.
Actually, I cheated a fair bit. I have always been very struck by how beautiful she is and ages ago I studied her profile and since then I have researched the breed because I would love a chicken that gorgeous. I think I have Barnevelders in my future!
Oh, cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater! LOL. I want a Barnevelder someday, too. They are supposed to be large, but gentle. And there feathers are magnificent!

I am so clever my head hurts!
In order to give Maggie her special protein-packed breakfast and not be mobbed by her friends I decided to make 5x the amount and let them all share.
Finally, I OUTWITTED THE CHICKENS!
Hold on, did I? Hmmm. Maybe they outwitted me again!
Yep. LOL.
