This is very interesting. Exactly how trainable are chickens, in general? They learn things they are naturally inclined to pretty quickly it seems to me. Is your teaching them roosting places (by poking to the spot where they "should" be, showing obvious displeasure when there is hassling, putting them where you want them) something a rooster would do? I think you have written about one of your hens - was it Mal? - doing that? Maybe it won't take long for peace to reign in the coop! Hoping this is a trend!:celebrate :yesss:
They can be trained and a peck on the back is something another chicken would do. That's why I try to use it. I believe they may understand it in the right way.

One of my many flock frustrations is that I have not been able to train any of these hens. There are too many now for one to be allowed to have my attention. The others all need to be involved. I had Daisy, the greatest hen ever, trained to do many things. But I only had 3 hens at that time. I could have trained Maleficent, in fact I was training her when she was killed. I had her jumping up in my lap when I patted it. I had 4 hens at that time.

I might be able to train Phyllis but I have to do something about her lack of vision. I had planned to train Sydney but she hates me right now. Maybe Sansa is the answer. 🤔
