I would think genetics are playing a role.

The cup hand treat method is how I trained my previous 4 to eat peacefully together when their name was called. I just need to work with them. It's just harder with 6. I could control 4 and arrange them, etc. I can't keep 6 still long enough or dole out treats fast enough for them to wait their turn.
Sounds like you will need to enlist Mrs ByBob to help with training.

Well, I don't have cameras so for all I know she might be doing stuff even without eggs.

But after I lift her off the nest, it takes her anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes to hop up and start moving around. She has gradually become much better at getting herself up, which is a good thing. I'm hoping when the time comes she will manage a small clutch. Maybe four eggs.
Have you considered giving her some ceramic eggs to practice with when she is broody?

Isn’t it interesting how our hearts can ache a little for them like they’re our children? LOL.
I so want them to have happy satisfying lives. I feel that is the responsibility I have accepted by bringing them here. Once you meet them and learn their personalities you can't help but be sucked in to worrying about them.

I feel like I should be offended on Tsuki's behalf.....but it's true!
Tsuki has worked hard at bullying her way to her figure and I'm sure is very proud of it. If you are going too be a bully, be a successful bully. That's Aurora's philosophy as well. She is also plumper than the normal for her breed.

Define Huge??? We have been hit with winter storm #2 of the season and have had dinner cancelled thanks to a tree down across our road in “the big trees” section of the farm. Hopefully I will have some pictures for y’all of it in the next couple days. According to DH it’s as wide as he is tall. Power was only out for 4 hours, so that’s a new record for the last 3 years that we have been here. Now, to find someone who has a 48” bar on his saw and knows how to deal with something that size safely... (my little arms and 20” saw isn’t even going to think about it!).

Short story... Tree Maintenance is extremely important! Call in some pro’s to asses it ;) We aren’t allowed to Fall in that section thanks to an agreement with DH’s grandmother, and it’s an awesome section until something like this happens.
Well that is a mess. Boy, you have to love Mother Nature.

Standing Watch

Everyone knows that Hattie is the flock's designated sentinel. Lately Sansa has also been standing her turn lately as well. Well here's Hattie standing watch on the deck in yet another rain/ice storm.

I tell bad stories of how mean Aurora is too everyone. Well on this day she ate alongside other hens with no pecking or chasing.

Of course I am not sure how comfortable Sansa and Sydney were with Aurora standing over them, lurking like this, but there were no incidents. Aurora was very well behaved.

To me, a bird is still a bird. I get that they are different, but if you are a doctor to some birds, surely the anatomy is similar enough that you could at least make an attempt? :(
Yes! This is what drives me crazy. Help. It's my pet. Help me. Don't dismiss me. Help the suffering animal. 🙁
