Thank you. I miss them at times and it's nice to be able to see them now at a glance.Awww... really lovely, Bob.
Do you have any personal experience using them?x2
There is a lot of unsubstantiated hype about the caines.
That is great news! That must have a bit of an ordeal. Finally have power back, thankfully it is only in the mid 45s not 30s like last week.
Ah. Here’s the update I was looking for.Sounds like a plan... we have discussed again, and in light of the weather, we are delaying until DH is back on Thursday. It’s cold and miserably wet=mud, and our mud=liquid fecal matter. This will let Andrew get some sort of topical numbing agent as well as hopefully some styptic powder. We are due for drier weather Wednesday through Saturday. Also we will be able to do the procedure in the afternoon, so he will be less active and settle in for the night afterwards.
Really? Do they do the same? I don't have a lot of experience with horses.Sounds like horses feeding!
Nope. Not on my hens. Awhile back I think I read some articles about it, but wouldn’t know where to find them. If I recall correctly, dangerous levels are WAY (like orders if magnitude) higher than what’s in an over the counter topical.Do you have any personal experience using them?
Oh my gosh! Thank goodness for Spidey Senses! My Spidey Senses were Tingling
Something made me log back onto BYC tonight before bed. I bumped into @micstrachan and gave brief replies. While I was here something told me to check the coop and see how cute they were huddled up an warm before I went to bed.
I already knew everybody was roosted as I watched them roost tonight on camera live. By the way, there was no pecking or fighting tonight at roost time. Just lots of bawking.
So I expected to see happy cuddled hens.
And I did. I turned off the camera and was ready to go to bed when something caught my eye. The coop door had not closed all the way.

It is still snowing and the wind is kicking up even more. I suited up and out I went.
The ice and snow from earlier today had jammed the door open. I was able to clear the mechanism and get the door shut. The ladies are safe again.

This is not the first time something has warned me and I headed off a bad situation. I am always amazed when it happens. Thank you Spidey Senses!
Indeed. I will be making modifications to the mechanism as soon as weather permits. I clearly need to encase it to keep the snow out. Thankfully nothing bad happened this evening.Oh my gosh! Thank goodness for Spidey Senses!
OMG, Verna. Her markings look too perfect to be a Mottled Java. Or is she?Mugs Monday
