My understanding is that it’s the evaporation itself that does a bunch of the killing? (asks the molecular biologist of the microbiologist @BY Bob?)
That is correct. The cell membranes are popped as a result. That kills the bacteria.

I love that the days are getting longer! And since we opened school to in-person instruction on Monday, I only worked eight hours today! Amazing! Both of these things mean I got home in time for the girls to have a quick (20-minute) run around before bed!

Here are the girls running around... with my giant, happy mug in the foreground.

Such joy in this picture. I'm so glad you posted it. I love the green! Its great that you get time with them now.

I wouldn't mind feeding mine something like an all flock, but the only thing I can get in crumble is starter (not medicated) or layer and mine absolutely refuse pellets.
Depending on the protein level, why not keep them on Starter and add free-choice calcium separate for the layers? Not sure what else is changed for Layer versus Starter, perhaps fat level, would have to compare labels. Every brand seems to be so different!

There so many we miss dearly. :hugs :hugs:hugs
Frightfully so! Like my Canna canna!
I miss her so much!

I live in western Oregon, it rains here, this is generally well known. Last night we had 12 hours of crazy, lashing, pounding downpours. We were on the not severe thunderstorm list :/ We didn't have thunder, just rain so hard it kept waking me up and giving me crazy dreams and gusty winds. Morning has brought a bit of clear sky, whew. 20210128_153537.jpg
