@BY Bob OMG... why didn’t I think of Amazon.ca for the chlorhexadine? It’s pricy, way more than the “human stuff” in the pharmacy (by prescription)... $54 for 16oz. I will order some soon, but with a two week minimum shipping time I’m just going to go with the current plan and see if we can get Roostie some relief and on the mend. I probably didn’t consider it because every other medical pet item I’ve tried to find on there has been a complete failure.

I am naming her Lucky. Poor Baby... she ate a little bit and drank, but didn’t gorge herself which seems good. The dingleberry from hell is how I would describe her back end. I clipped one growing in feather that bled a bit in cutting it off. She didn’t really seem to mind. She was also unable to preen her back end at all, and the lice were completely Out of control. I rarely bother with gloves, as I’m usually half covered in poop, and have just accepted this as my natural state; I broke out the nitrile gloves for this one. She’s too weak to really evade me yet which helped a lot. I powdered her with some of my precious remaining Carbaryl powder I found hidden in my cargo trailer. Her tail is a little cockeyed now.View attachment 2515248
Here is what she was under... with Zip Tie (of course) modeling in it.

Our current theory is that she was trying to stand on the edge and drink and managed to flip it over on herself. US Size 10 men’s boot also for size reference. I still feel incredibly stupid. I’ve been walking past her for days. Arduinna was jumping on it. She is going to get a lot of treats, I’m sure. She’s sleeping in the chicken trailer, confined to a tall dog crate for now. I didn’t want her getting pushed around too much at Roosting.
Edit to add: or spread any surviving lice. I was ok with the thought of her having been taken by a predator, but the level of guilt I’m feeling right now... I don’t have the words to express it. That this happened under my nose.

But you did find her and rescued her. :hugs

I don’t know how you reference things like this so quickly, but thank you Bob. I can’t believe she’s still alive! Here I’ve been complaining about the sheep that was trapped for at least 4 days under the collapsed stairs of the vineyard that no one thought to look for. How I missed her I don’t know. 14 days without food or water, just a tiny bit of grass, no light... she looks worse than when I rescued her. I searched the whole area, and the woods up past their favorite dust bathing spot I never thought to flip the plastic feed bowl. I feel so stupid.
Oh my goodness, Kris! But you found her! Can she come inside for some heat? Is she eating and drinking? Fluids will be incredibly important.

Please don’t be too hard on yourself. You looked for her! And thank goodness you found her before it was too late. I’m sure she will recover with some TLC.

Yes, the thread is still up, but I don’t really post in it anymore... I should probably get back to updating it eventually. I just live here at Bob’s thread for the most part now! He summed up most of the important stuff perfectly. FIL passed away last year, after a short and sudden struggle with cancer. There has been some additional Family Drama with the Aunt-in-Laws. Andrew is now “officially” a part owner of the property so we can’t be evicted (a small funny aside FIL was actually threatening to leave his share of the property to his friends in Cuba, but a lawyer talked him out of it!). And every time I’m about ready to throw in the towel and go back to the city... something comes up. FIL’s Hunter friends show up and get our house partially up, or I find an orphaned baby goat walking down the road... we do have to get the house up or something proper to live in this year though. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just water tight and with a woodstove, that’s all I need and I can take it from there. Meddling municipal government...

Oh, and the Goat snores!

Thanks for updating me! Of course there’s drama. How could your relatives manage without it?

She immediately took food and then water... I was juggling the chicken, a hungry cow, and had a goat running between my feet... in complete shock that I flipped the feed pan to lure the cow and a chicken blinked at me. I just scooped her up and immediately offered food then thought WATER!!! It’s been raining so heavily lately I think she was able to get some water... I can’t see her having survived otherwise.
