It is Time to Go Back

Yes everyone, it is time to enter the Wayback Machine. Mr. Peabody, let's set the Wayback Machine for February 2019.

Jabber convinced Hattie that it would be a good idea to roost up on some chair legs, the chairs had been knocked over in a storm, so that he could stare me down at the coffee pot.

The only problem now was that they needed to get down once I left the coffee pot.

Mr bluebird was impressed, "That was almost as good as a real bird". 👍👍

Miss Lilly was not, "What an idiot! Taking her up there like that. She could have broken a leg. Does he not realize she is dual-purpose! She is not svelte like me. I can think of a dual purpose for that goober!"

Well that was fun Mr. Peabody. Why don't we go back further. Let's set the Wayback Machine for February of 2018.

How about a Vintage Video!? Here is the Big 3 enjoying what? Why spaghetti of course!

Also spotted back then, the rare snowback Maran! Just look at the beautiful sheen in those feathers!

Well Mr. Peabody, this has all been fun but there is one momentous event which we must go see. Please set the Wayback Machine for February 2020.

We met some new friends for the first time on February 9, 2020.

Here they are in the car on the way home.

Just watched the funniest thing.
A big moth flew out of the garage and Belle and Snow took off after it, leaping at each other when they lost sight of it.
Bok came over and couldn’t have cared less.
It landed on the grass and they weren’t sure what to do with it. After careful inspection, they walked off and left it alone 🤣
Mr Moth, you are lucky today.View attachment 2529308View attachment 2529309
He was quite pretty...

That mouth would never survive my crew. Any and all would have gobbled it down. He is a lucky fellow. Unless its kind taste bad somehow.

Love this Bob...such great memories of your beautiful chicken family...:love

I’ve offered her cheese and mealy worms today and she made her excited clucking noises. Turned her beak up at the porridge though. 🤦‍♀️

I'm starting to think molting for chickens is like periods in women. You're cranky, everything hurts, you want left alone, and only junk food looks good to eat.

This is a good thought. I think its a little early for that temperature wise. We are in the 20s all day. I can't see her wanting to hatch when it's that cold.

She also not tut tutting around. She also showed no inclination to hatch last year although I suppose that is not to say she wouldn't this year.

I'm not sure what is going on. I also thought she was not enforcing the pecking order like usual in that she was kinder to Sydney and Phyllis than normal. I'm afraid I may need to pluck her off the roost and give her a good once over. Of course if she is angry over me daring to touch her, this will just make it worse.
You are probably right, not all girls are nutcases like Momma Hen. She's not doing the broody cluck yet, but has started trying to hide her eggs. 3 days in a row now that witch has had me crawl all over and under the hay stack to locate the hidden nests. Yesterday she even recruited Butter and one of the young Marans to lay in her secret spot,. She is also sorta guarding that area, after she's done laying she keeps that area in her line of vision until roosting time and has a fit if I go poking around looking for her egg. Last night I waited until after it was dark before I went egg hunting.

Wow she is serious business!
