I don't know who it was but they all mobbed me for shrimp tails and cabbage this morning and are running around as normal. The road-runners have messy fluff (so no FBF photos from them today!) but it certainly wasn't one of them. I think I have to wait until it is warmer to wash their fluffy butts.
The love a few shrimps or prawns here.
I've used a prawn cut open to get meds down them before.

In Appreciation of Aurora

It's Friday and fluffy butt pictures are the order of the day. One of the fluffiest in my tribe is Aurora. Photos like this display the beautiful creaminess of her bum.

I would like to point out how amazing her tail feathers are. Some have different color cores, they all vary in color. They are far from the uniform color they appear from a distance.

Her feathers post this last molt are simply stunning. Everywhere I look there are details and variances in color that simply did not seem to be there before.

She is quite a beauty in her own right.

Ok, not a chicken pic, but I am taking a break from chicken chores... enjoying the peace and sunshine. they only get a couple hours outside, because I had quilting in the morning, and we’re trying out our new kayaks finally today! anyway, I thought this was pretty, even without chickens...

Bob, see how her tail is crowded? She’s one of my smaller hens, despite being a biggish breed.

And she likes it? Dislikes it? (if you know either)
She likes it apart from the nesting arrangement.
She has 4 hens most of the time. She's been a chicken slave for 25 years or more. The hens free range in her back yard every day in all weathers much like the tirbes here, so run size isn't an issue.
She's had wooden coops before and had a lot of problems with red mite in them.

Yes I can see that working well. Mayhem breaks out when I deliver left over tails. I think it is their number one favorite thing. They don't peck at them they grab, run and swallow. You wouldn't think there was much nutrition in the tail!
