Yes, I don't have any electricity running to my coop. It would be great if there was a battery run heat as well.
Marie, I don’t believe in battery chickens. I think it’s cruelty to animals and a shame on the farmers! Oh, you said batteries for the camera,....... never mind  :D

I can't help with battery heat but I bet there is something. You already have the link to the cameras, thanks @drstratton I find them invaluable especially when making certain that everyone has roosted at night. I did not want to run electricity to the coop and so got these. Fast forward ahead I have an extension cord running to the coop for the heated water.

No matter, it is still easier to freely mount the cameras so I can cover all areas when I want. You can have them motion activated or you can turn them on manually via the app and look in. When watching live on the app you can record video or take photos. You get 1 month of free picture and video storage.

I always advice you to buy your cameras up front in a package as they are more expensive to add later. I want sure they would work so I only bought a couple originally. I paid more later.
Fab advice Bob thank you.

My garden is slowly but surely being renovated. So I'm hoping it will be a lot more for my girls out there soon. :)

Good morning Marie! That's what you read. I believe the cameras Bob & RC use are called Arlo security cameras. Here's the link to their website, you can do a web search to see if they are available in the UK! :)

Yes. That is correct. Each camera has a battery and when it gets low I bring it inside and recharge it. I bought spare batteries so I can always swap out a battery for a newly charged one.
The base station requires power but I keep that in my garage - I actually do have power to the Chicken Palace but it is so dusty in there I wasn't confident the base station should sit in there and the garage is a perfectly fine place for it (about 200 feet away from the cameras).
Does that make sense @Marie2020?

Last night I pulled out the camera that my husband bought me for Christmas, it's a UniFi G3 Flex. I was hoping to put up 3 cameras, but I'm not sure I will get to. I talked to my son about it, evidently I will have to put in a switch somewhere if I want more than one & my son isn't sure that it will last if I place it in the coop, but I think I want to try anyway or we will have to run 3 different Cat cables from the house. He's really into security & these cameras aren't completely web based, so my video will be stored on a hard drive here, but I will still be able to see it with an app on my phone. I'm thinking I'll buy an extra external drive just for my system. I really want to be able to keep an eye on my flock, especially when I'm traveling! Wireless would have been nice & less work...but this is the path they have put me on!
Chicken tax!

Sounds like it will be great - I did worry about security but got convinced that if I ran it all on my WiFi 'guest network' (which apparently I had already) that it won't represent a risk to stuff on my main network.
We have now gone so past my technical understanding that I will just show myself out quietly.

Chicken Say

First let me say how blessed I am to live in a time when we can share videos like this. It's wonderful to get at least some snippets of Eve.

I am so proud that she is being raised to understand chickens and speak their language. They say it is easier to learn a language when you are young. 🤣😂
Oh that is cute. And so handy for all of us to have someone who speaks chicken. :love:love

It's beyond me too, but I don't have to worry about it, I just have to let them know what I want & they are supposed to make it so...:gig
