Good afternoon

I've just received my eucalyptus hemp and it has a very strong smell even coming from the box . I am really worried if this will be bad for them. Has anyone used this for their chickens?

I've heard of one or the other, but not both sold together. But don't the Aussies have eucalyptus around, and the leaves are okay with chickens?

Not risking my girls lives. Sorry because we won't know this answer via me. But I will try to investigate, Google isn't coming up with anything on this subject but the company say it's ok.

I'm getting mixed answers from different sites including BYC in a brief look-around. I did read it can harbor aspergillus fungus, which could be bad. And the oil is definitely bad, but that's likely in extracted amounts. Eucalyptus is supposed to be an anti-bacterial and anti-pest thing, because of that small amount of oil. I wouldn't use it myself. Then again lots of people use diatomacous earth in their coops as an anti-pest dust which I wouldn't risk either.

I Found a Vet.

After 8 years of having chickens, I found a vet that will see them and treat them as pets, not livestock. She is 20 minutes from our house.

The timing could not be better as I wait for Hattie to poo. I believe that some wellness checks will be coming up shortly if nothing else!

You could put a diaper on Hattie and see if she'll tolerate it. Tell her it's for important medical research, like humans wearing a heart rhythm harness for a day . I've never used them, just seen them.

I wouldn’t trust anything that has more than two syllables in its name, near my chickens.
