I have noticed that Dotty is getting quite aggressive with me. She has been pecking my ankles for a while which is a bit painful but sort of amusing.
However, she has been escalating recently and went full on attack just now. I managed to grab her and hold her for a while - I thought maybe she needed to remember that I am the rooster in this tribe - she didn’t struggle, but once I set her down she took a chunk out of my thumb.
I hand fed some sunflower seeds but she would only take ones that fell to the floor.
Everyone else is behaving normally including Maggie who is super friendly to me (as long as I listen to her loudly expressed opinions) and also puts Dotty in her place quite often. Maggie did not however come to my rescue when I was under attack!
Any advice from my favorite peeps?

My leghorn Beethov-Hen acts up, but she’s a brat anyways. Never attacked me, but does peck my leg wanting treats. I’m not sure what to do about your situation RC.

I would like to find a slow-motion film of chickens kicking in dustbathing. See the second picture form the top. How do they direct the stuff towards themselves, onto their backs? There must be a scooping and then a last-minute curling / fling of the toes in order to accomplish that!

I’m sorry my friends. I haven’t participated with you much lately. I do look In from time to time, but my healing is slow and still very painful. This is Sunday, I usually don’t miss church, but today I had to.
I'll be doing church on zoom. I'm sick again. What is going on? You take care feather. Make sure you're changing those bandages...you hear? I'm old enough to be your mom, so I figure I can be a bit ..bossy...not the right word here. Caring!

I will do my best!
So far today no dust bathing. Everyone is too busy destroying things: grass, bugs, worms. There is a lot to destroy. And Dotty adds my legs to the list. After several hours dedicated destruction they all just flopped down to work on their tans.

I would want to know more about that remark from the vet. The vet doesn't mean by ingestion, do they? So E.Coli travel back through the system from the vent where they've been colonizing from the outside world, or came from where? And they move that way even though they are sort of going upstream against a lot of stuff coming down, so to speak? Can they latch on and then keep moving up? And then what? How does this theory work? It is a cause of egg binding and infection? Coccidiosis, or respiratory illness? As you can tell I want to interrogate and get the scoop on this...sorry
Well, we didn’t discuss it, but it is well known that eggs can travel backwards, so why not bacteria? I assumed the E. Coli came from their poop. So dirty/poopy vent could cause salpingitis or other reproductive infections. Big assumption on my part.

Sorry to hear that you are sick again. :hugs
