Uneventful trip. I decided it was cheaper to drive, than fly. (Driving only took 1.5 hrs each way) Jaffar has his replacement hen, and I found this in the yard, when I got back home. Any idea what breed this tiny one is? Not fully feathered either??View attachment 2633318
Looks like she has some RIR in her.

I’ll try to get a pic, she’s out free ranging. But she looks just like my lovely Emma (RIP) except Emma had a scissor beak, she doesn’t.
Here she is. (Jaffar already likes her) and that makes it all worthwhile! :love AF65D34F-EA3F-4365-964A-4059784A6286.jpeg

Michelle’s Flockservations

Bob, I hope you don’t mind me stealing that term; I just love it!

Overall, my flock seems to be doing better. I think worming and coccidiostat was a good call.

Dorothy seems to feel better, but is still dropping soft eggs and feels lousy when they are in the pipes.

Minnie has been feeling better this week, but not so much today and pooped milky urates with no solid matter again.

Ruby. Here’s the hard part. Ruby has been active and vocal. I love that! However, she still “clicks” a bit when breathing... it’s very subtle... and seems weak when I handle her. Last night and this morning, I see her taking more rests. She is active while standing, but has labored breathing while sitting. I just checked her abdomen and she’s already swelling up again. Poor baby. I think it might be time to call it soon. I’m sad about that, as much as I’ve known this time would come.💔
Anyone can use flockservations anytime they want.

I am glad the tribe is perking up. I feel for fear Dorothy. She just can't get that shell making machinery back on line.

I was afraid of this. Poor girl. It is amazing you helped her along this far.

I know you both have enjoyed the extra time together. No one could have done anymore for her. :hugs :hugs

Dorothy isn’t even two yet, and this has been going on for about a year. I think it’s either poor genetics, an infection or both. She’s in the nest box right now. I anticipate an egg with a brittle shell. Will update.

Ruby is sitting with a low tail and heavy breathing, but was up and about with tail up a bit ago.

Dorothy and Lucky are both in and out of the nest talking about eggs.

Sunny has to lay and is hovering nearby waiting her turn.

That Flash is behaving like one of @Shadrach hens! 😆

How do you wind up with one chick wandering in your yard. It's a little young to try and identify its breed, at least for me. How lucky though. Both you and the chick!

A neighborhood of people who don’t want or care for their birds I guess. Everyone around, knows how much I care for my chickens.
