List of pros and cons of living in California:
Pros.
1. Great weather year round.
2. Jobs and prosperity
3. Lots of entertainment
4. Pacific coast, and all its benefits
Cons:
1. Too many people to fill the jobs
2. Taxation moves businesses out of California
3. High crime rates
4. Drugs and drunks prevail
5. Many homeless people (not usually their fault)
6. Infrastructure failing
7. Highest death rate in the USA due to COVID 19
8. Wild fires, flooding, and an occasional earthquake.
On second thought, maybe I should pack my chickens, and move out too!!

Correction, Alex. Highest COVID death COUNT, but not rate. That’s a function of population. Since we locked down and masked up early on, we’ve actually done quite well.

I agree with pretty much everything else on both lists. I’d like to add to the positives: In addition to the great entertainment Alex already mentioned, we have very diverse cuisine to choose from when dining out.

She was. She eventually went to a nest box for awhile, came out doing the egg/escort song and the whole bit, but didn’t produce anything.

And the reason there’s a tiny container of water is because I don’t want this broody business to kill Millie. I’m gonna let her sit it out, since she’s going to be keeping Ruby company when she passes.

Does she actually drink from it while she sits? If you put wet food there, would she eat too?

The only respiratory problem I have, is when one of my little chicks, chooses to perch on my chin! (Feathers up my nose)!

Sunday Morning

Hi! I hope everyone’s having a great day so far. It’s beautiful here. I’m sitting out here in my jammies enjoying the sunshine and some coffee while the girls eat the seeds from long (wild) grass that was mowed yesterday.

Ruby came out of the coop a little more hesitantly today. However, when I let them out to free range, she came out like gangbusters. I even saw her run to catch some bugs in the pasture. However, she’s definitely more tired today. She’s already taken a couple rests. Here she is right now.

It is great to see her out and about again.

Yeah, crazy! Couple of my girls have odd, mutant feathers. But I see it more on the bard rocks… They have a couple random solid black feathers.

I have never had this before this year. Very odd

Sunday Morning Egg Drama

So there seems to be lots of egg laying happening this morning.

1. Broody Millie is mean, so nobody wants to lay beside her.

@featherhead007 I noticed in a recent picture two large picture of chickens on the wall, both polish - are they of BLU? Or BLU and Phyllis? How did you do it? I am thinking of making one of Queenie, in remembrance. I miss her so, so much.
