Thank you. I think that was Ruby's last run-around. I'm glad I let her out for a bit. She tired easily, and I took her back to her flock. I had to get to work, anyway. She put herself back to bed with Millie before I left.

I'm working from home the last couple hours and she is in bad shape. She hadn't moved since I left. I made Millie come out for a bit, but when I attempted Ruby, I could tell she was too weak and ended up leaving her. I brought her water and stroked her back, but she wanted to get away from me. She hopped up (18 inches) to the upper coop to do so. Now I feel terrible, because I disturbed her and she's not with her Millie. She's in the upper coop with her face in the corner. I put up a couple little clip fans to make sure the air is moving, as it was in the low 80ºs here today and Ruby does not do well in heat.

The end is near. My poor, sweet Ruby. I hope she isn't suffering too badly.
You are doing everything you can (and more), she will come back down with Millie when she’s ready 💜
I’m sorry though, it’s so hard when they get to this point and I will be thinking if you both :hugs

Jaffar has had a very bad day. Has a cough, sneezing, somehow wrapped his leg up in some discarded fishing line, his bum was covered in 💩 and he was dehydrated. He’s in the chicken room drying off after I bathed him. No cuts or leg damage, I could see. But I gave him vitamin water and canned corn (laced with antibiotics) poor little guy. :(
I hope he’s doing better now, you’re a good chicken dad 💜

Oh my... I’ve missed so much. @micstrachan and @ChicoryBlue, much love and I am so sorry for your losses. And anyone else I’ve missed... :hugs :hugs:hugs dealing with illness or deaths.

I doubt I’m catching up here anytime soon, but am glad to see everyone is keeping busy. Not much has changed here, I’m a little overwhelmed with everything at the moment, but wanted to stop by and say Hi again. I will likely be an infrequent passerby here for the rest of the summer. I almost re-homed the tribes here and was seriously planning on leaving the farm.

I’ve had my first true Broody hatch and agree with @Shadrach now. Broodies ARE better! I have two more sitting as well and due in around three weeks. Four new healthy layer chicks and the all are looking pretty feminine, for day olds 😉 Roostie is still doing well, and the ladies too for the most part... the weather is still very mild.

I hope everyone is doing well, and taking care of themselves, families, flocks, and fur babies too! (Yes, I know... but “Tribes” would ruin the alliteration)
Good to hear from you, Kris ☺️

I’m glad you stuck with the farm, you do a great job with your assortment of animals and issues. Whatever happened it must have pushed you to your limits ☹️

(and love the alliteration 😉) teaching it to grade 1’s at the moment 😅

I found an abandoned chick in my yard two days ago and I'm not sure who her mama hen is. I decided to take her in and so far everything has been going well. She enjoys following me around and being cuddled. She also really enjoys monitoring what I'm doing whenever I'm on my laptop. I'm sure @BY Bob will be happy to know that the little chick is a fan of the thread 😂

So adorable 🥰🥰🥰

Update in the morning, but I just won’t let him die, I have saved so many human lives in my career lifetime, you’d think that I could save one sick rooster? I will be up (obviously) all night at least trying. Any prayers would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
I’m not one that prays, Alex, but I will be hoping for the best possible news in the morning and I will be thinking of you and Jaffar until I get the next update.
Know you are doing everything in your power right now, whoever said chickens are easy mustn’t have cared about them as much as the people in this and the other threads of members here.
Keep doing what you are doing and I hope your prayers and my hopes are answered :hugs

Wow ACM, you got really close! I don’t think I could have got that close to our cockies!
I really can get close with this one. The bin is up against the door and I put my hand on the bin for balance when I put on my outdoor shoes. This cocky just sits there watching me.

I have a little porcelain jug that I serve the wild bird seed out with. There was a little bit left in the bottom today and I offered it to him. He was quite happy to stick his head in the jug while I held it. :love

I think in a couple of weeks he may be doing an Olivia and sitting on my shoulder. 😁

He is in the best hands with you and we are all rooting for him Alex.

Don't forget to look after yourself too. :hugs:hugs 💗 :hugs:hugs

I'm glad she was able to have a nice potter around in the back yard.

Thinking of you and Ruby tonight. :hugs💗:hugs
