Oh my... I’ve missed so much. @micstrachan and @ChicoryBlue, much love and I am so sorry for your losses. And anyone else I’ve missed... :hugs :hugs:hugs dealing with illness or deaths.

I doubt I’m catching up here anytime soon, but am glad to see everyone is keeping busy. Not much has changed here, I’m a little overwhelmed with everything at the moment, but wanted to stop by and say Hi again. I will likely be an infrequent passerby here for the rest of the summer. I almost re-homed the tribes here and was seriously planning on leaving the farm.

I’ve had my first true Broody hatch and agree with @Shadrach now. Broodies ARE better! I have two more sitting as well and due in around three weeks. Four new healthy layer chicks and the all are looking pretty feminine, for day olds 😉 Roostie is still doing well, and the ladies too for the most part... the weather is still very mild.

I hope everyone is doing well, and taking care of themselves, families, flocks, and fur babies too! (Yes, I know... but “Tribes” would ruin the alliteration)
It's always lovely to hear from you Kris. I too am happy that you are still there to take care of your tribes. 🤗

If you ever need to leave though you will still join us here from time to time won't you? Your insights and experience are greatly valued. It just wouldn't be the same without you and Shadrach.

(Also, I just plain like you. 😇)

I found an abandoned chick in my yard two days ago and I'm not sure who her mama hen is. I decided to take her in and so far everything has been going well. She enjoys following me around and being cuddled. She also really enjoys monitoring what I'm doing whenever I'm on my laptop. I'm sure @BY Bob will be happy to know that the little chick is a fan of the thread 😂

That is totally adorable @cfonts ! I look forward to hearing more of your adventures together. 🤗

I heard him (Jaffar)gasping for breath, from the room next door, so actually he is now in my room on a pillow next to my bed. If he has to die tonight, he won’t die alone!
I'm so sorry to hear that Jaffar isn't doing well 😔 I'm keeping Jaffar in my prayers! I'm hoping that he gets through the night and recovers. I'm glad that he has you to keep him company and that he won't be alone 💕 Please keep us updated.

Well, a motherless chick has got to learn how to be a chicken from somewhere.
Good choice of thread for advice imo. What you need to be careful of is she/he doesn't get too high expectations of luxury housing and gourmet food or you may find yourself under construction pressure.
Might be best to point her to my coops page and hope he/she takes the hint.

Thanks for the warning- I have a feeling she's already been taking notes on what kind of housing and food she wants 😂 I'll have to show her your coop page tomorrow to bring her back got reality...

I read adding a little lemon to their feed helps and I add ginger and turmeric powder too help with their breathing, its absorbed into their wet feed.

I'm well aware of weather changes and know this is bound to have an effect on them, so I do this periodically as a preventative. If it helps us human slaves too the fluffys, it'll help them I'm sure.

He's so lucky having you!
