dealing with illness or deaths.
I doubt I’m catching up here anytime soon, but am glad to see everyone is keeping busy. Not much has changed here, I’m a little overwhelmed with everything at the moment, but wanted to stop by and say Hi again. I will likely be an infrequent passerby here for the rest of the summer. I almost re-homed the tribes here and was seriously planning on leaving the farm.
I’ve had my first true Broody hatch and agree with @Shadrach now. Broodies ARE better! I have two more sitting as well and due in around three weeks. Four new healthy layer chicks and the all are looking pretty feminine, for day oldsRoostie is still doing well, and the ladies too for the most part... the weather is still very mild.
I hope everyone is doing well, and taking care of themselves, families, flocks, and fur babies too! (Yes, I know... but “Tribes” would ruin the alliteration)
They're not barren but they were hatched at a tricky time of year. They'll lay eventually and until then, think of all the extra time you'll have with them!Oh stopI leaning towards mine both being barren
Jk, congrats, beautiful eggs![]()

The power came back but they keep each other warm, sometimes cuddle with the bigger ones, they also have blankets and a kennel for warmthWhat are you going to do to keep the chicks warm?
I’ll be sure to try that!I use the black oil sunflower seeds that are packaged for song birds. My ladies love them as a special treat.
Yes, I know this from first hand experience. I don't give mealworms at all any more. Not to many mealworms they can cause fatty liver
