I don't know where or how it happened, but, Bunny came up on the front porch a hour ago raising a ruckus. Go outside to see what is the matter and she has one of those sticky fly tapes stuck to her. Started at her vent area, went under a wing and ended at her chest. I removed it and she immediately flew to the sawdust pile to start dust bathing. I'm going to check her over in a little bit to see if I'm going to have to bath her to get the residue off. If I do I'm assuming the best thing to use would be dawn dishwashing liquid and warm water.

My guess is oil is actually best to get it off - maybe coconut oil if you have some.

Flexy has a balled patch on her front, she either came of her perch awkward or she may be having her first ever molt.

Haven't seen it again. Lots of adults around and nobody seems too disturbed. So maybe it got taken in the night or perhaps it is safely back in the care of its parents.
The first is probably more likely but I am firmly holding on to the second answer.
It was able to run surprisingly fast when it went to hide in the woods.

It's awful not knowing. But that's nature.

Just found the US Fish & Wildlife website that definitely says I should leave it be.
They even use this particular bird (I think it is a Northern mockingbird) as an example of fledglings that are often on the ground.
They do say I can move it into the bushes if it is in a 'high traffic area'. So I think I will tuck it into the pachysandra for the night and hope for the best.
This is the second spring I have got all worried about wild birds (last year it was the wrens nesting in the garage).

Well it took things into its own hands by hopping off into the woods followed by what seems like a large extended family of adults.
I think it has a better chance in the woods rather than out in the field so I wish it luck.

The man down at the bottom of the hill, on the water has a BIG fire pit area---I am assuming it is him that is smoking me out,, I am going to have to shut all of the windows GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
