Thanks MJTo Daisy![]()
Glad it was just a little back end liquid bath required... but yes dishwashing liquid and a lot of love, rinsing and a blow dry (I just towel dried, but fur is different than feathers...) works for goats too... and yes, speaking from experience.I don't know where or how it happened, but, Bunny came up on the front porch a hour ago raising a ruckus. Go outside to see what is the matter and she has one of those sticky fly tapes stuck to her. Started at her vent area, went under a wing and ended at her chest. I removed it and she immediately flew to the sawdust pile to start dust bathing. I'm going to check her over in a little bit to see if I'm going to have to bath her to get the residue off. If I do I'm assuming the best thing to use would be dawn dishwashing liquid and warm water.
It's good to have an expert in goat washing on the team.Glad it was just a little back end liquid bath required... but yes dishwashing liquid and a lot of love, rinsing and a blow dry (I just towel dried, but fur is different than feathers...) works for goats too... and yes, speaking from experience.
Aaawwww.... Daisy. Rest in peace sweet lady, the greatest hen ever. Hugs to you, Bob.A Sad Day
Today is a sad day at Fluffy Butt Acres. It is the anniversary of the passing of the greatest hen ever. She left us 3 years ago in 2018. It is amazing how much upheaval the tribe has undergone since then. Here is a quick synopsis.
All in three years.
- Daisy passes, tribe is Patsy and Lilly
- Hattie and Jabberwocky join us, tribe is now 4, Patsy, Lilly, Jabber, and Hattie
- Aurora and Maleficent join us, tribe is now 6, Patsy, Lilly, Jabber, Hattie, Aurora, and Maleficent.
- Jabber departs. tribe is now 5, Patsy, Lilly, Hattie, Aurora, and Maleficent.
- Patsy passes. tribe is now 4, Lilly, Hattie, Aurora, and Maleficent.
- Maleficent passes. tribe is now 3, Lilly, Hattie, and Aurora
- Sydney, Sansa, and Phyllis join us. Tribe is now 6, Lilly, Hattie, Aurora, Sansa, Sydney, and Phyllis.
A quick moment to remember the greatest hen ever.
On her last day, Patsy stayed by her side until the end. I will always be grateful to Patsy for that and I did the same for her when it was her time.

Here is a short video of me holding Daisy as the end arrived. We sat together for a few hours and then she asked to be put down so she could spend her last moments with Patsy as seen in the photo directly above.
The skies today remind me so much of this day. Let's remember her for the jaunty lady she was.
