BREAKOUT!!!!!!!!

I'm not certain if you remember back when Phyllis breached the perimeter fence but when she did I was most worried that it might have been Aurora. My main fear being that I can't touch Aurora and she won't let me get close enough to catch her. How would i ever get her back into the fence if she ever got out.

Well today I learned what would happen. My fears came true and Aurora breached containment.

Since her last knee replacement, Mrs BY Bob has left the lawn mowing to me. She used to like to do it but it was too hard. She has decided that she is finally ready to mow again but just the flat part of the yard, no hills. No problem, I am grateful for the help. So when I mowed last night, I left the small portion of the side for her to mow.

Now the hens, normally Phyllis and Hattie have been very interested in the world beyond the gate for some time. I have to be careful when I open and close the side gate. Today, when taking the mower out, Mrs BY Bob was not careful.

I was sitting at my desk working on an agreement and my phone rang. Not unusual but it was Mrs BY Bob calling. I figured she was having issues seating the battery into the mower. Nope. I heard, HELP! AURORA IS OUT! I CAN'T GET HER BACK IN! I was out the door in a flash.

As I am going a plan is developing in my head. Perhaps I can use her fear of being touched to my advantage and push her back in through the gate like two magnets with the same pole.

The video will tell the truth. I was smart enough to record my efforts. Enjoy! Try not to laugh too hard. I know I did afterwards.

WoW! Very neatly done Bob. My heart was in my mouth as you rounded the corner and as she went through the arch. I thought she'd do a runner again! 😱

Did you use a stick to "extend" the length of your arm?

Does she do that a lot? There's a stray feather sticking out, the end of which floats back and touches her muff and right then you see her concentration on the walnut stop and she shakes. I watched it a couple times because first I saw the look in her eyes change right before she shook. Like, "Wait a second, I need to take care of something - " and I had seen a bit of fluff sticking out when the video started. So then I watched it again, watching the fluff, and the timing of her distraction is just when it floats back and touches her muff. But it may be coincidence. What do you think?
Got it. Yes I think you are right, that piece of feather floats back around and touches her beard. I think that triggers a weird feeling and causes her to shake to rid herself of whatever it is.

Nope just me. Keeping her next to the fence was essential. I needed the fence to keep her contained. When I first rounded the back of the fence and saw her headed away from me towards the open space of my neighbor's I was really worried. If she got to the open I could be running in circles.

Oh my gosh! What an adventure! Well done. And thank you for recording it! Ester id the one I have trouble with in this regard. Super stressful!

Rocks-Ann is being so sweet today. She’s five years old, and still wants to jump up and sit on my lap. (No treats needed) yep, she still loves me! I’m holding her now.
So sweet. Just like my Bridge! She’s five and still lap sits. Here she is sitting on my shins this past weekend.

It’s a little warm here today 95f . Emily decided to go out into the heat. She needed some sunshine I guess, but Jaffar went out with her, he started growling and she quickly followed him back under the porch (cooler and air conditioned) under there. I asked Jaffar “what are you doing, letting your ladies get out in this heat?”
He kinda looked at me, as if to say “sorry daddy
(I was out, moving a bowl of chilled water under the porch for them all)
Good little man, that Jaffar!

Bill caught these two earlier, silly girls. He had been talking to Rosie for several min trying to coax her out while working around the coop, looked up and there was Brenna, he had no idea she was tucked in there.

You should submit that one for picture of the week or the calendar. It is a very special picture and really adorable.
