Sad emoji for Lucky, but thumbs up for Ruby and Millie. What's going on with Lucky?
I don’t know. She’s standing around with her eyes closed a lot, sometimes with her tail down. I have learned that chickens can have a low grade infection for a loooong time, and then it can bloom. That’s what happened with Margo. She had this weird, hunched posture, and when i treated her with amoxicillin, she seemed to recover. I wish I had treated with something stronger, as a YEAR later she got a septic infection and necropsy revealed chronic, dorsal egg yolk peritonitis, which makes sense since she had that weird posture.Sad emoji for Lucky, but thumbs up for Ruby and Millie. Lucky you!!! I couldn’t find any for 100 miles (when I wanted some) They are wonderful birds.Good news! We found some Easter Egger pullets and will be picking them up later this week.
Looks like a great day for your feathered familyAnd here’s a video from this afternoon, just because:
Aww, poor Maggie! How’s she doing now?Maggie is limping badly today.
I happened to get coop cam footage of her coming down from the roost but she used the ladder so I don’t think she landed too hard.
I tried to examine her foot for cuts but couldn’t see anything. Mind you, she wasn’t super cooperative with that process so I am not sure.
I will try a footpath later and see if I can get to look when it gets dark.
She is getting around limping and nobody is bothering her so I am taking a watch and see approach.
Poor Maggie.
