From my personal observations I've noticed the correlation of smaller groups of chicks to greater growth. My new birds are three weeks old and came from a batch of around 52 but are the size of two week olds. For those of you who have raised chicks, have you noticed similar observations?
Interesting...is the theory less competing for nutrition?

This is very interesting. I bet your observation is correct but I can't add anything. I've not done enough chicks to know.

I can't quite puzzle out the body position of that one hen. Is she extending and twisting her neck? Fabulous feathers on that one. 🥰

The chicken yard had an old table, 4 chairs, 2 benches in addition to the trees and privet hedge for hiding. They are pretty happy with their space, as evidenced by how comfortable they are pooping everywhere.
A true sign of chicken love.......... chicken poo
