Oops, already drew Lilly with the neckwear for a 'link. If she is a marans too, then she would have a scarf similar to Patsy. Yes, I have a lot of details for this universe.
It's ok, with Lilly being a rescue no one truly knows what she is. But, there is a percentage of marans that do not have feathered legs so just because Lilly is clean legged does not mean she is not a Marans. I actually have 2 clean legged girls, a mother and daughter who are definitely pure Marans. They are just not to the "French" standard of perfection which calls for feathered legs. Lilly also does not have a complete hackle marking of copper, which again not all have. That is one of my hens biggest faults is none of them have a full complete hackle. If Lilly did lay a darker egg in the past, with everything else going for her it at least points to her being part marans.

Well, something found Henrietta's nest this morning. I noticed 2 hours ago she was out back, thought she was just here to eat, poop and dust bathe. Went out a few minutes ago and she is still here. I was worried so I went and checked, about 50 feet from her nest was one busted egg, and inside it was another one. There are still 10 eggs but they were covered in sticky yolk. I candled them, still alive so I wiped them off with a damp towel and moved them and caught Henrietta and put her in my spare dog crate. She's mad but is sitting on them. They are exactly 2 weeks into incubation, but I do not know if where they got covered in goo, having to be wiped off and were slightly cool to the touch if it will hurt them. All I can do at this point is hope for the best as judging by her behavior Henrietta is still determined to sit and be a momma. Crossing fingers that in a week she is rewarded with at least 1 chick.

🤞 Let's hope all goes well
