Here is where I suggested @ChicoryBlue look at feather fixer and supplied the nutritional information. It provides way more calcium than what she was using before and has the higher protein for which she was looking.

I remembered you posting that. Mine are on layer pellets with calcium range of 3.25-4.25 so that is the best I can get on that front.
Another broken egg today - the shell is really paper thin. I need to consult the cameras to figure out whose it is but I am thinking Elizabeth.

Oooo! Flash looks just like my Gold Laced Wyandotte Runner. We only have two nest box, and sometimes our chickens needs to lay at the same time. Runner usually gets to the nest box first, than GreyWhite (Dark Brahma and Yellowie (Buff Brahma) would come over and try to squish her out. When this is happening, Runner would snarl at them very loudly and warningly screeching. There was also this one time, probably about 2 years ago, summer, when all our chickens needed to lay their eggs, and I think it was Yellowie and Biggie who got to the nest box first and the others actually waited very nicely and straightly in a line! It's so sad that I weren't able to get a photo of it.
mine do this same thing and there are two other boxes available.

Yes. She laid her first egg October 31, 2020. (I made a big announcement, and bookmarked the post. Lol)
She has laid an egg every day since. I am not kidding! Every day!
All eight of my hens laid all winter. They don’t all lay every day, though, but almost. I figured this was because it’s their first season. I assume they will slow down some, like maybe this coming winter.
Yes, You can plan on not having eggs this winter but that very first winter Leghorns will lay right through it. Many other new layers will also lay most of their first winter as well.

I'm Crushed

and not just for myself. I just got notice that there will be no Frizzled Polish coming to live with Phyllis. A dog got into the area where she kept them and killed 12 of the 18 chickens before they could get control of it. I'm both sad for her and myself. I was going to pick them up in the next two weeks. I should have taken them straight run. I could have saved 2 lives maybe. 😭

Oh no that is so sad. Out of control dogs are a real menace.
But don't say there won't be anyone coming to live with Phyllis - maybe some other very lucky Polish chicken will need a home at some point.

Maybe. That is twice now I have failed. I need to rethink things. Perhaps this is all a message to me to be happy with things the way they are.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this! I wonder what she's doing now about the dog predation? The other six are okay? Are they spoken for?

Hold it, your mission has been delayed but I don't see where there's been actual failure on your part. You're getting into speculation. Didn't you have good reasons for not taking two as straight run? Also, your heart is breaking for the 12 poor chickens that were killed, and we are too, that pain is giving you pause for sure.
