Time to clean out the refrigerator. I think I have enough eggs for now.
That is a good stash of eggs. It's time to take about 2 dozen to one of your favorite church ladies and hope she makes you a cheesecake. I was sitting right at 4 dozen last night until I used a dozen for dinner. French toast for the family, and a fried egg on the side for Rosie. Since I had a stash went ahead and bought the rest of the stuff at the store for a homemade cheesecake sometime this week. Have not made one since sometime in February.

I have accomplished something in taming Blueberry. She was held back from her group simply at first because my dad liked her colors and wanted to know what she would look like as a adult. Me and Rosie had been eyeballing her since day 1 hoping she was in fact a she and trying to find a way to justify keeping another mix. When he made the comment he thought she was the prettiest one at only 3 weeks old and wanted to know what she would look like as a adult that sealed the deal. Keeping her was his idea, not ours and she would become HIS chicken. We all have our own favorite or special chickens, mine is obviously Drumstick. Mom's is Butter, Rosie's heart belongs to Basil and Raven. Dad has never had a favorite, he likes them all, but has yet to click with one. He came in last night gloating that he'd stolen my chicken. I asked him he meant by that, and apparently for 2 hours Blueberry never left his side. She stayed with him while he let dirt graze after his ride, then when he put dirt up and was grooming him she was either on the top stall board or on Dirt's back talking to him. She then hopped up on his lap before bed and settled in while he and mom were out there just sitting with the horses before coming in. I'm going to smugly let him think he stole my chicken, when in fact His chicken has won him over.

I was afraid of this. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Have you considered trying to stop her cycle with darkness as we discussed? As fast as she is producing eggs I'm not certain it would work but it might be worth a try. :hugs:hugs
Everytime she is in the house, I keep her in a darkened pen. It doesn't seem to slow her down. In all fairness, I haven't kept her in for more than 48 hours bc it breaks my heart with her calling for her sisters 😢

Question :
The picture below shows my chick Jelly at the age of 9 weeks (she is currently 3 months and a little older (i'll get a new picture of her today). Her tail is growing pretty big and got a lot of green feathers, but her (hopefully) comb should be 3 times bigger if she was a rooster and she really have a LOT of green feathers. Her saddle feathers are not exactly sharp and pointy and shiny (actually yeah I guess very shiny) nor round like hen's. I am really, really having a hard trying to figure out whether she is a pullet or a cockerel. (Jellyfish, but I likes to call her Pennyfish or Jello, too) Any help?

In that picture she could go either way but I think I'm seeing a even though small red comb. I want to lean towards boy. What breed is she? Also take my boy prediction with a grain of salt, I've been overrun with boys this year so everything I look at right now I see boys.

While this is not specifically that kind of thread, an updated picture would help. Also if you know her breed that might make things easier. Certain breeds get more combs than others. I've mainly studied hen vs rooster in EEs, but I bet I could give it a shot with a 3 month old.

Do new hens start out laying smaller eggs than regular "medium, or large "? Does ANYBODY know the answer? My five new BR's are laying now (but are the same size as my five year old "Rocks-Ann" but their eggs are small?:idunno
The Buckeyes started small, but they only took a couple of months to get to the size they are now.
