So she is now an assassin? Oh my.
So that went nowhere. Was having a conversation with Butter this evening about sharing mom's lap with Blueberry. Her Monday mugshot explains her feelings on that.

You are so lucky that they want your help. It must be nice to be able to handle them like that.Basil is letting me know its time for bed and that I'm late on placing him on the roost. He can get up there himself, but if daddy Drumstick does not have to. Neither does he. I have too many spoiled chickens, Oh well, its the price I pay to have friendly pets. He stayed right in that spot until I started putting the other's on the roost then he came running for his turn.

I agree thst a hawk attack would be obvious and upset the entire flock. It was likely something else.I've looked all over for her today, and she's just gone without a trace. I do have hawks so it's a possibility. There is also another possibility that I have to consider, even with all the rain we had last week, it's very dry here, and the creek is low. We killed a huge copperhead this afternoon near the creek. Considering it was one of my smaller silkies that is missing, a big snake easily could have gotten her or any of the smaller chicks that momma hen has. In a way, I'm leaning toward snake instead of hawk attack. What ever happened, it didn't phase any of my other chickens. I would think at least with a hawk attack at least some of my flock members would be visibly upset.
Poor Phyllis. I hope the heat breaks. You’re doing great with her! My fan doesn’t drop the temp like that. Are you pushing the hot air through a good vent? My coop is well ventilated, but there’s no tunnel effect to push air through. Trying to figure out how to utilize my fans more effectively.97°F (36°C) in the coop yesterday. I have started taking her off the nest in the afternoon now to get her out of the house. I take her out and deploy the mister fan to drive the temp down.
These are great!It’s still Monday!

I am so glad to have you with us to help with this. I have book marked this for myself!Oh, she’s so little. Yes, you either need to stay close to the front or else go way back past the throat, into the correct hole.

I should have asked but I just assumed after the vet visit she was improving. I'm sorry to her she is still struggling. She has such a strong will to fight though.Hi folks. Ruby update. It’s a bit rough. She is very weak. Drinking and eating, but unsteady. Could not get herself up to the shelf, so I put her up there. I’ve been doing private feedings of whatever she’ll eat. This poor girl.
