I've looked all over for her today, and she's just gone without a trace. I do have hawks so it's a possibility. There is also another possibility that I have to consider, even with all the rain we had last week, it's very dry here, and the creek is low. We killed a huge copperhead this afternoon near the creek. Considering it was one of my smaller silkies that is missing, a big snake easily could have gotten her or any of the smaller chicks that momma hen has. In a way, I'm leaning toward snake instead of hawk attack. What ever happened, it didn't phase any of my other chickens. I would think at least with a hawk attack at least some of my flock members would be visibly upset.
I had a snake take on a GLW & a Vorwerk. I saved them but we think the snake caused internal injuries because we lost both about 6 weeks later. For what it's worth the GLW, who took the brunt of the attack, went into catatonic shock. We thought she was dead.

Goodness, it does sound hot at your place!
97°F (36°C) in the coop yesterday. I have started taking her off the nest in the afternoon now to get her out of the house. I take her out and deploy the mister fan to drive the temp down.

She's starting on it, although I'm really worried about how light she is.
Give her time to settle in now. So much has happened to her that she needs time to find normal and develop. I'm glad you are doing the nutridrench. It will give her good nutrition and a boost in easy to digest food.
