Maggie is gettting a beak full of frozen kefir with added calcium. It is intended to help Elizabeth with her shell issues but she just eats so much slower than Maggie she doesn’t get her fair share.

Do you make your own kefir RC? I've been thinking about making it for my flock and us too!

I was ready to ship them all to freezer camp this morning. This constant egg laying Marco Polo has to stop. I almost picked Lilly up and separated her just to shut them up. I do not need the neighbors complaining about the noise. Not mention the fact that yesterday Lilly full on crowed at me in the morning. Maybe I will just zip tie their beaks shut every night and cut them loose after the eggs are laid. I'm telling you it is too darn much.
I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry at this!
Zip tying their beaks?! :lau
I think if you distract them with some corn or a hanging cabbage you will get some peace.

Yes I do make it myself.
I make it in a mason jar on the counter-top - or in the fridge if I need it to slow down. I am quite a fan because I like those sorts of sour flavors but I know not everyone likes it.
Before I figured out the ladies liked it I was wasting a lot of milk because the little kefir grains are rather productive and were way outpacing my ability to eat it but you have to keep feeding them anyway.
Turns out the chickens love it and if I freeze it before giving it to them then they make less of a mess than if it is liquid. It is also a good way to slip in extra calcium (I add some powdered calcium to the pot before putting it in the freezer) and I often throw in kitchen scraps as well.
