Roosting Issues Continue

Last night Phyllis roosted in the run again. So I moved her to the coop. I had to push Hattie to make room for Phyllis on the main roost.

So tonight look where Phyllis roosted.

Can anyone renege when I installed that roost? No one ever used it before as it's only big enough for Phyllis.
Is that the first time she has used it? I am glad she is out of harms way.

Do you know if leech diseases are more treatable than tick diseases? That's my uninformed impression and I would choose a leech over a tick too. I wouldn't mind a medical leech I think. They are rather cool.
Not sure - I don't think it is specific diseases like ticks - I think it is more local skin infection if the leech isn't clean.

Lavender oil works so well. They are in my office so I will be with them all day today monitoring everything they do. I don't know if that is good or not.
That is definitely good. They will become familiar with you and your voice and movement, as you are their mama and their rooster, and you will get chick therapy 100% of the time. Sounds perfect to me!

But that is also fine isn't it? I mean, not a hyper-critical thing needing second-by-second monitoring- they can sleep half under and regulate the warmth they get like a cat in front of the wood stove warming it's toes....
That is the beauty of the heat plate. It allows them to relate the amount of heat they want by sticking a head out, etc. I should be raising the heat plate every so often to help them though. There is such a size difference between the two of them I think slanting the plate solved my issue.

I saw that you did that in the one photo you sent me. I may try that
Oh definitely try the angled plate - because this way everybody can more easily regulate the distance they are from the warmth and how much they need. Everybody - I keep thinking of more than the two you have :lau but it still applies. One may want to stand, the other maybe sit and sleep.

Happy FBF from Canada!!! Brought to you by Beaker and her little tail/rudder🙂

Some of Peggy's blue feathers have dark pencilling on the edges too. She's wearing old feathers right now, so it's not very pronounced but if you look at her chest in particular you'll spot some dark laced feathers.

I think Storm is going to look much like her....minus the crest, beard, muff....except her chin is white at the moment...🤔 I'll keep taking pics.
