Bedtime

Well bedtime was very interesting. As you can see in this picture, they found the roost.

However, once there, they just peeped and peeped at the top of their lungs until I came over and moved them to my arm. Then they settled in and started grooming. After about 10 minutes they were settled on my arm for the night and Phyllis was roosted next to me on Maleficent's roost.

Of course, as much as I would have loved it, they needed to sleep in the coop. So I got up and put them in the nest box with the heat block. They snuggled under it and went to sleep.

After it was dark, I put Phyllis on the roost and locked them in. I expect I will be checking the camera all night.

Now we wait and see how things go in the morning.

I have given so many eggs away, that I’m running out of egg cartons (I have collected quite a few over the last few years)

I have a small ink stamp that says 'please return the carton' and mostly people do

Black sex link....possibly bitsa with some black copper marans (Rebecca is the expert on those)

I agree with Black Sex Link. Doesn't have the right eyes for Copper Marans/copper marans mix. Not terribly familiar with bitsa, so not sure on that. Does look a lot like my accidental crosses that were black sex links, though.

My poor truffles, keeps getting rejected my his love emily. He got “stuck” in the fence (lost his way back out, we helped him after) and he stared at emily and slid a seed threw the fence, like tidbitting, and she walked away and he followed her til the fence ended, i felt so bad.

Emily isn't mine..... now I'm confused.

I responded to a post about Truffles and Emily (him trying to get her interested in the bag of leaves..she wanting nothing to do with him at all. ) Though maybe when she comes into lay she will think more highly of the attentive Roo!
