I responded to a post about Truffles and Emily (him trying to get her interested in the bag of leaves..she wanting nothing to do with him at all. ) Though maybe when she comes into lay she will think more highly of the attentive Roo!
Hopefully! i think she will, hes a real gentleman and always looks out for her. he even chopped a huge dried leaf for her that was mini sized for her to “eat” and gave it to her, she walked away. so rude!

I agree with Black Sex Link. Doesn't have the right eyes for Copper Marans/copper marans mix. Not terribly familiar with bitsa, so not sure on that. Does look a lot like my accidental crosses that were black sex links, though.
Bitsa: little bit a this, bit of that, dash of something else, all wrapped up with a bit of that other too.

At the other extreme this butt is not fluffy at all. To add to her moulting problems, her sister, or at least close relative, has been pecking lumps out of this ones rear end. Yesterday evening I watched as a couple of other hens had a peck as well. Her bum was a bit bloody and sore when she went off to roost. I went back to the allotment at about 9pm when it was dark and quiet, dissinfected her bum and one of the others who had also had blood drawn, slapped a cream I brought with me from Spain on her bum.
I also got Henry's missis off her perch and cleaned her vent up a bit. It was a bit of a mess under the feathers.

In the second picture is the hen who I've been very worried about, but who despite having an eye problem, which I'm trying to help with atm, is very fiesty and one of the first to come to greet me when I arrive. I sat her on my lap to give her the eye drops and she was very well behaved. I do hope she makes it through the winter at least.

Amazing how quickly they recognize goodness and are willing and able to trust you - especially after what they have been through! What a testament to you :hugs, and to their🐓 'emotional intelligence'!:clap

Dirty fluffy moulting butt...and the guilty party. I just swept that off!

Run space is the priority. They've been managing with the coop since they arrived. To make any real difference I would need to build a new coop. They are not shut in the coop at night and can come and go in the run as they please.
I'll show a bit more about how much run space I would like to give them in the not to distant future.
Maybe a second coop is a good idea. Maybe they will sort themselves into two tribes if they have the chance.

No Chicken Encounters

Tonight I held no chickens, no chickens roosted on my shoulder, and no chickens needed my help.

Phyllis roosted in the main coop and the littles put themselves to bed. I sat alone as they took care of their own business.

They grow up so fast. 😥

Hard place to be @BY Bob. :hugs
You want them to be successful...but you hate the increasing independence :(

Empty nest syndrome...only they will be filling the nests:gig
