I know, isn’t it glorious? However, the chickens are NOT impressed.Such a great sound “your rain” It should be here for us , hopefully by tomorrow![]()
Oh, how very entertaining!!!Well, my live trap caught 2 mice. Dumped into tall, empty trash can. Cat is off somewhere so took the can out to the chooks. They came a running. Tipped it over, mice ran up to lip, stared at chooks, chooks stared back. Mice retreated to bottom of can. Chooks kept watching, then backed off. ......finally dumped the mice out in the bare patch (silver's dustbath). Chooks circled around....mice froze. Peck at....then....Jessica grabbed one and took off. The other mouse bolted for greater cover. And the chase was on. I think the one got away but Jessica killed hers. Now Cuckoo has it and Jess and Pear are both trailing her around. MICE, BEWARE! THE ATTACK CHICKENS FIGURED IT OUT!!![]()

Great news all round!! Good to hear from youHowdy y'all!! Things are going great, just super busy!
Rich had a repeat CT scan and follow up for his aneurysm. He is stable and had been removed from the Coumadin. He still has to take a baby aspirin and now Plavix for the next year. Then 1 more CT scan and as long as he is still the same, he can stop the Plavix as well.

The chickens are doing great. I did slpit of about half of my flock to my good friend. She has the ability to free range during the day, so I gave her all my jail breaker chooks. Cappy is now over with Ned and is doing well as a junior rooster.

Hmm I think it might be better in the long run if they don't become habituated to sleeping in the nest box. This is my problem as well. Of course no one will be laying eggs for months so I have use of the box. Unfortunately, I would also be training them to sleep in the nest box which eventually will be a bad idea.
What to do? What to do? What to do?
I like this option!Talking about weighing chooks, I was thinking of getting something like this and attaching a perch to it like MJ suggested.
