Yes - the info on it says animals can't see it - but I now have pretty definitive proof that is untrue. A cat, a chicken and a raccoon have all shown quite specific awareness of the light.
The first thought that popped into my mind was, "How do they know animals can't see it?"

Rain Out

Today was a nearly complete rain out. Cold driving rain. So much that the yard is flooding again. It has never dried out from the hurricane. The ground has been consistently mushy for weeks.

Today was a sad day for another reason. I ate the last of the girls eggs. We will not have anymore until Feb/Mar. Thank you Aurora for laying so late into the year.

Here’s a question. From memory the seeds are quite huge in this type of pumpkin (we can only buy them at Halloween here)
I’m thinking too big for the chooks to eat/digest? I have no idea! Or bake them first? Just fear crop issues hahaha
Wash clean of pumpkin strings, pat dry with a flour sack towel. Toss lightly with olive oil and a smidge of salt. Bake 300 F on greased or parchment paper lined baking sheet until golden brown around edges. Tips: spread out to single layer on sheet and stir every 15 mins until done. KEEP ALL SEEDS FOR SELF, SHARE NONE WITH BIRDS. commercially done pumpkin seeds are nasty. these are fantastic (and you can do the same with any winter squash)

I sure hope so too. What that really means is that there is enough easier food out there that predators do not need to resort to attacking your chickens. That is a good thing.
Unbelievable! I did jinx it! At least the part about them staying off the deck.

Actually I think Mrs. Goldenfingers may have spoiled the magic. She put a rug out there and they could then clearly see that it wasn't really the entrance to a wormhole leading to who knows where. :he
