I use a strip of wood with deck screws through it. Mainly I am using old door molding. Anything that pinches it down solid. I think I took pictures last year. I can look for them if you like.

The Cluckle Hut is Painted

A color was chosen and painting undertaken. The outside was completed today. Inside the run will be another day. The roof of the nest box will be white like the Big Coop.

The Case of the Chicken Cop Gone Bad. Hazel's definitely taking advantage of her until-now reliable sentinel duty. Everyone except Peanut is molting and there's a lot of disruption - pecking, run and dodge. Maybe it's the crack(ed corn)?

So I had the run open from about 10 AM till about 3:30 PM. I finally closed the gate at 3:30, since they weren’t coming out. I don’t know what’s going on with them. There’s been a little bit a breeze on and off and I can hear a chainsaw in the distance. I’m not sure what they’re afraid of today. I will open the gate again in a little bit and see if they come out.

Since daylight savings is tonight, they’re not gonna get to free range this coming week during the weekdays, so I really wanted them to be out a lot this weekend. Oh, well.

You gave them a choice. That's all you can do.

Interesting! Sydney over Sansa! Don’t get me wrong, I love Barred Rocks, and they might even be my favorite breed. But the feathers on Golden Laced Wyandottes are spectacular! You could be right about the comb coming into play. I prefer the look of a single comb.

It's funny because I think Sansa is spectacular. But visitors to fluffy butt acres prefer Sydney. I love Aurora's beard and muffs and Hattie's coloring is amazing right now. Then there is Lilly iridescent in the sunshine. All amazing but Sydney always wins.

It’s a song I liked in the 80s and when I created my 80s playlist to listen to at work, I added it. It was only when my son and I started having our dance-off (inspired by MJ) did I actually see the video.

That color actually makes the 'orange' in their feathers 'pop' so nicely in the pic!!
