Shad, I just feel guilty having two fresh eggs in my pocket with all the Rocks laying (and all this bad news comes up)

Yes if you do anything I suggest make it so that you can put it up and take it down easily. The heat in summer is the biggest consideration, your temps were insane this year. It's good there's so much distance between the tin roof and the rafters, and that vent near the roof plus the large windows there helping to disperse heat. I'd love a structure like that. Not too drafty in there. I spend a lot of time with my birds in there. Summer, it’s cooler inside, and in winter (seems warmer than my house, to me)![]()
I notice Shad you posted a picture of a thriving hen, at least it appears so, and she is quite stunning. Some good news there. I don't have a problem with your sad news, we've all had fair warning as to what to expect with the poor ex-batts, but this is nice right now. You're taking care of us, thanks, it's thoughtful. While we wait for Bob to get home what we can do is keep his thread ticking over. None of us are in a position to help and as yet we don't know who is alive and who is not.
Matilda.

You should have seen it when I first started rebuilding that place. It was a rundown bldg with only a cement slab and roof was caved in to the ground right in the middle. (Basically just a pile of trash and rubble) all the lumber I used, was scrap material from a construction company that closed down, before I bought the property. Woo hoo! Let's hope Sylvie is uninjured and was just catatonic. There's the Coop Warmer still in there? She might need it as the temps are dropping.A Bit of Good News
First, I am not reading everyone's posts, I'm sorry. Maybe on Saturday.
But I have to pass this on.
Sylvie is Alive
I misread the interaction with Lilly. I can only guess that Lilly was comforting her somehow. When Mrs BY Bob went to collect the bodies, Sylvie was gone. She was in the Cluckle Hut with Phyllis. She ran in the nest box when Mrs BY Bob collected Legertha.
Here she is asleep in the nest box. (Red Circle)

For those who are wondering, if I can find an injury on Legertha that explains what happened, I will have a necropsy done. With everything that is going on right now I need to know why.
Rest In Peace, lovely little Legertha.A Bit of Good News

Also some Sav-A-Chick might be good, she might not eat normally the next few days due to the shock.Woo hoo! Let's hope Sylvie is uninjured and was just catatonic. There's the Coop Warmer still in there? She might need it as the temps are dropping.
