Thanks for reminding me of his winter weather...our temps have been in the low 20sF (around -6 C) for the last week most nights, and will get colder, so it would be too cold here for hatching and raising....Jaffa would have known exactly where she was and what she was doing.
As I understand it, it doesn't freeze where Alex lives. Doesn't even get that cold so I would think thhat the hen would have been absolutely fine sitting and hatching.![]()

Consider bantams. From what I've seen they are much, much hardier than standards with far fewer problems. I'm considering an almost all bantam flock with just Campine standards because I love my Campines.
Not all. Australorps & Wyandottes are heavier...Can’t they fly really well though? I don’t want them roosting in the 20m Eucalyptus tree in the school grounds behind us.![]()
