Story time

This morning

Still drifting down here and there. Headed out to open up with the scoop of pellets for in the coop and the much preferred and highly sought after bucket of scratch (with mealworms) for tossing outside. Opened the door.

Usual mad rush stopped short.

Back tracked and watched their desired breakfast get scattered outside.

Tried again and CHEETAH called her back!

Opened their door.

Not one has come out yet (Silver and Pear are experience snow birds)

Edit: hour and a half later, they braved the strange white cold stuff to scavenge what the magpies left behind

Pear came straight up to attempt to raid Castor's food.FOILED!It'sinside

It gets so dark very quickly here. There was a beautiful orange red now it's black

Princess is thriving and she is the underdog

@featherhead007: I thought you asked about trimming a rooster's spur that is curving into his leg...but not finding the post nor a response. If it isn't already touching his leg, you can gently file with a human nail file (metal works best) the end. I haven't ever 'trimmed' a spur, only filed...so if it is really bad and needs more than a little filing...maybe @Shadrach or someone else can help.

Soon as I can catch up with him, I will cut the spur down. It’s not bothering him so far. Thanks, and Shadrach, he may be short but he’s very fast.

Mine also hate and I mean hate snow. I love that yours did finally come out.

I am going to wait until tonight, bring Jaffar inside and do the snip snip. I surely don’t want to hurt my little buddy. I do love that little squirt very much. And my house guest said that she would help me any way she could. (I said, can you cook spaghetti with sauce for tonight?) so…. Soon as we are done here with Chaco, I get an early spaghetti dinner, Yay!

Happy 6 month birthday Bubba, Branch, Poppy and Lil Bit.

Bubba. Can we just take a minute and say wow, in 2 more months this boy is going to be a knock out. He's starting to come out of the teenage looking phase and I am thrilled. What has me the most excited about him is his rich dark copper coloring and size. He is definitely going to be bigger then both Basil and his daddy. He does have a longer tail then Basil but it is not carried high so that is ok.

This picture here shows the true representation of his copper coloring. I am thrilled because while he's gorgeous Basil, and Drumstick did have a halo in their hackle markings.

And Lil Bit, Looking at the new pictures yup, the rooster signs are there.

Oh and to show the difference in the color of their hackle markings, here is one of Basil. You can see the halo, or lighter colored copper in the hackles. I personally like both to be honest.
