@BY Bob,

Would ex-batts have been vaccinated as chicks? (I really don't know...only know that many hatchery chicks are done...have no idea about the commercial side of poultry) If so, they would be an option.

Not sure how you would find out, though. Maybe I'll do some poking. online!
Most Ex Battery hens are vaccinated for some diseases. It's a matter of finding out which diseases.

I believe most egg farmers vaccinate their flocks to keep egg production high.

However, after reading about Marek's, I'm interested in the "leakiness" of those vaccines, which means hens still have Marek's without getting symptoms. If a newly hatched chick is exposed to an ex batt, they'll get Marek's.
Correct. A chicken can still be a carrier and thus pass it on to others.

So after the crazy couple of years we’ve had, my workplace is doing 12 days of Christmas activities. One of the managers (who is also an artist) set up an art station to paint rocks (which appears to be a global sensation). I’m not much good at painting, my medium is graphite pencils, so I copied a fairly simple graphic for my rock. It’s not keeping with the Christmas theme everyone else was doing but I’m quite happy with how it turned out.

I’ll have to paint a chicken one next for tax!
