Yeah, that’s why I edited the post to add the details of ingredients because it’s not actually on the bottle!Wouldn’t you have to give the whole bottle to get close to one day’s calcium requirement?
I feel I must be doing the math wrong.

If I've understoof Bob right the feed he is giving doesn't contain any calcium (?)I aim for about 600-800mg per hen per day when they lay soft shell eggs. The Citrical happens to be 400mg so I often give 2 then one but sometimes I give 3 if the hen is cooperating because I am not worried about too much calcium over a short period.
That's one of the reasons feeding meds etc as/in treats is preferable to grabbing a chicken and trying to force sommething down them, especially if the chickens are not used to being handled. That is what I am most concerned about. Sansa has never been hands on. Now she is going to need antibiotics as well. This is going to be rough. Add Lilly to that and no one is ever coming near me again.
You can't go far wrong by matching what layers pellets provide. The range is usually betweeb 3.5% calcium and 5.5% calcium. The vet was also was not a great help either. She was as uncertain as I was about which way to go.
I've double hit hawk strikes in the past. The hawk had struck the first hen and squashed her resulting in internal injuries and then left that hen and killed another. Not an idiot. I forgot about that possibilty, too. Or we’re both idiots.
However, this reminds me that the same had occurred to be about Hattie. Is there any chance she was hit in the first hawk attack?
Nope, no more meal worms at all for any of them would be my vote. There are far less damaging treats. My poor Hattie. Extra mealworms for my pretty girl.![]()
