There has been a Change in Environment

Ever since the hawk attack and the video I took of the hawk hunting in the trumpet vine, the song birds were non-existant here. I did not see one.

This morning they are back in force. The yard is full of them again.

Does this mean the hawk has moved on? I wonder. 🤔

Change in Decision on the Feed

I have posted this on MJs thread but thought I should share here as well.

I think I have decided to put the tribe back onto layer feed including Sansa. It is likely the best way to get higher calcium into her. I may still choose to supplement as well to give her a big boost. I'm going to do this for a month while I keep good watch on her weight. Then we will recheck her labs and see how we have done. I can then adjust as needed.

I'm headed to go get some layer now. I'll do some calculations then to see how much she would be getting. What I can't understand is why I don't see her eating any of the oyster shell. If she was calcium deficient and there was calcium available, why not ingest some?

The concern that the entire tribe might be a little low on calcium is another reason why I'm going to switch to layer.
I think this is a good move.

Oh it is clear I do not have the emotional resilience to keep chickens.
Diana came up to the roost and was clearly disturbed at seeing Maggie in ‘her’ spot (traditionally it has been Maggie’s spot in fact).
She paced back and forth for several minutes. Kept eyeing the roost across the way where the Roadrunners have established an alternative base camp and ultimately threw Maggie off
It is a sign that Maggie is not well that she was able to do that.
So, it appears Diana with no feathers prefers to roost alone. At least Maggie isn’t injured.
What’s that under the roost? Is that new?
