Goodbye to a Friend

Today I said goodbye to another friend. This time in the pouring rain. The rest of the tribe watched from the open door to the complex wishing it would stop so they could come out and enjoy the yard but alas it did not.

She is buried next to Patsy. Both of Lilly's friends together. Someday Lilly will join them but hopefully not for a long time yet.

Goodbye my friend, rest in peace.

Because there was no real free ranging today, I hung out with them in the run. I can't really tell what if any changes are happening in the tribe as a result of their loss. Once i see any I will share.

Sydney did spend some in the Cluckle Hut today.

A beautiful tribute to a mysterious and beautiful hen. As others have said, I'm sorry for Lilly's loss, too. It is what it is. :hugs

My change would be…. Give all my chickens Social Security numbers, By law, consider them children, and set up retirement accounts for each one! (That’s why nobody asks for my opinion) :gig:lau
And I won’t forget my tax deduction for each child! (I can use a reprieve)

Busted! Sent to the penalty box! Stripped of my medals, and uniform!
Okay, Chicken tax: 8BAC200D-5D22-41EE-82AE-B3DAD6BC58B1.jpeg

There is something odd going on it is like a bird convention here right now.
Very noisy and they are everywhere.
I think there are more who didn’t read the migration memo. I hope they survive the cold heading here now.
They got the memo but stay until they can't forage well or find open water for safety. They are moving ahead of the severe cold front coming in.
