That is correct. The sentinel or hen that saw the predator will growl very low and very quietly, periodically until the threat is no more. It reminds the tribe that all is not clear.Bob will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's her warning growl. It means "everybody freeze and be silent"
They remain very much on edge. Did you hear the absolute silence? No song birds at all.Good to see that they are alert.
Has she picked a favorite?In an effort to entice Maggie to eat commercial food I am serving a variety! It is absurd really. One feeder has starter/grower, one has feather fixer and one has regular layer pellets.

I do that too.I make their sounds back to them. Often it's a kind of "whoo-cooo" sort of noise. I wonder what they think of me and what I'm saying?![]()
