Maybe she is concerned about maintaining the SOP
:lau
LOL, I read further and realized what you meant, but I deal with Veteran students. I thought SOP was 'Standard Operating Procedures', and thought Sydney didn't like that fact that everybody was segregated...that isn't how it is supposed to be.:lau:lau:oops:

OH COME ON! Everyone's hens are going broody!
It’s summer here so for a lot of breeds that aren’t just bred for egg laying seem to have the broody bug 😂
My first hatching season with chooks that aren’t ISA’s, been quite interesting (and a bit of a pain at times 😅)
Belle is lucky she’s my heart chicken haha

That is amazing! I hope my Cochins will go broody. I have a project in mind :)

Sydney was quite chatty and curious! She probably never saw a frizzled barred chicken before.
Ok, so according to Shad birds of a feather flock together. Looking @ that the colouring & barring seems very similar. Perhaps Sydney thinks Betty is a weird BR?

Yet Another Video

Phyllis spent quite a bit of time just watching Betty explore.

That's looking good, Bob. They seem to be getting along pretty well. Betty is a lovely looking little hen ~ but then we all know I'm partial to a good frizzle!

ETA: Tags still aren't working for me either.

Can It Possibly be True? Am I Really Seeing This?!

After everything the tribe here at FBA has been through over the past several months I have been so afraid that this integration of Betty and Phyllis would go sideways on us. So much so I almost turned her down when Betty was offered to me. Well guess what I just saw on the camera........

She really is spectacular. But then all of my ladies are spectacular! :love

Well old reliable *the incubator* came up to temp within 10 minutes of being plugged in and has held it for over a hour so far. Tinkering with the humidity at the moment as it is running higher then I want but it is to be expected after I washed out the bottom before I plugged it in. I have the temperature set to 100 and with all the vents opened up the humidity should adjust itself and come into stable range in the next hour or so. Once everything levels out and holds steady I'm setting the eggs. Chiquita indeed laid egg #5 this morning so that is all I'm setting even though the automatic turner holds 42. I know me, and I've purposefully not properly stored none of the other eggs I've collected. Even after selling 2 dozen this morning I sill have 5 dozen eggs and could easily fill it and have some left over. Come March, every slot will be filled.
