Oh, yes, I know that. I’m wondering about sleepy time. I’m going to research sheds.
My chicken trailer comfortably sleeps about 70 with the current roost arrangements, and the current 60 residents include 4 Roosters, and 6 cockerels. I was up to 93 before the mink attack things were getting tight, but I had one additional roosting spot above the nestboxes near the door where most of the littles and juveniles were sleeping. They were hit hardest by the mink :(

I free Range, completely, only semi supervised, and our weather is usually very temperate (much like California) so they only generally hang out in the coop in really awful weather. Then I just keep adding shavings much more regularly to combat the increased poop loads, because
I’m not going to try shovelling it out in -15C either! When the weather gets that bad they all just literally sit on their roosts and wait it out. That’s also the Only time I put water in the “coop”. They can go overnight without drinking. And usually hit the waterers first thing in the morning.

He's beautiful. He seems a noble looking bird, how about Charlemagne (Charlie for short) or Roland?
I think we are going with Eleos…? I am trying it out, with him. Papa was what I called my grandpa on my dads side, and we just lost our cat Charlie… so it’s a little too soon for that. Interestingly, Andrew’s Grandfather and Eldest Uncle were both named Jim, and Jimmy

I was sure that Rocks-Anne would be the first one today to want some attention, but I was surprised to see that little Dakota wanted my attention first. She’s a sweet little Rhode Island Red hen. She’s on my lap as I’m doing this post. :love

Sorry. The laugh was for the memory og Gus getting into the caravan. If I remember rightly Kris had to escape upwards.
I know nothing about giant land chickens but I do think Gus is a looker!
:love

The upwards escape was when they all trapped me in the barn! 😂 I’m glad he went back to his previous owner. Too good a boy to become hamburger at some auction, that’s for sure… even if he did have a taste for chicken feed. I should have repaired the damage to the caravan doorframe from his snacking stunt sooner, but the list of to do’s just keeps on going and you lose track… 😢 the barn incident happened a couple more times, turns out you can herd cattle with interesting little things, like a little tin of mints shaking. 😆 I don’t have a picture because I blocked all the in-laws on FB before doing a huge social media purge… but he also got a tire stuck around his neck last year, like a giant rubber choker necklace!it took a little doing to pull it back over, because he is so aggressive and all 🙄

Now she’s on my shoulder. :hugs EB25E017-979A-4C24-B7F6-C3D235F6988B.jpeg
