If she's having trouble with her liver, it would affect the uptake of calcium from her diet, right?
Not really. The liver and calcium absorption are not connected. However whatever is causing the liver enlargement might also be stopping calcium absorption in the digestive track.

Thanks for the update, how old is Lilly?

I would say osteoporosis is likely common with females of many species, as oestrogen levels decline in older years.

Have to say she looks good for an old bird, sure hope she improves, she is very pretty.
Lilly is over 6 years old. She is an elderly lady.

If she were human I would say check for hemochromatosis!

Well I say 'don't trouble, Trouble, till Trouble troubles, Trouble'. Enjoy her presence while u can, she is a Princess and is being treated as such 🤗💖

Makes me worry for Penelope, who will be six this year... I have a bunch of old ladies here, my horses are now all over 20, Penelope is elderly, my mum (shhhhhhh she hates when I call her elderly!).... Makes me worry.

Are you also supplementing with oyster shell also? I have been doing that, but now I am paranoid maybe I should flip over to layer even if it means Pangoo gets that...
I am supplementing with oyster shell. You will kill your roster with too much calcium. Stay with the all flock.

There is something else going on here. She has been on layer feed since Sansa saw the vet in November. She is not laying eggs. She should not need much calcium at all to stay in equilibrium. For some reason she is either losing calcium or cannot absorb it. An infection could cause that but that would be a long term infection.

You are almost correct. One correction.

Lilly is a queen!

I'm sorry I have caused you to worry.
