Last Night's Roosting

Lilly and Hattie arrived home from the vet yesterday after dark. As I pulled in the driveway I realized that I had made a horrible mistake.

When I gathered up Lilly and Hattie to go to the vet, I had dropped the the door separating the big run and Cluckle Hut from the main coop. In my desire to get going, I had not raised that door.

That meant at roosting time, Sydney and Aurora were not able to get home and needed to find lodging elsewhere. For some reason, I imagined the both of them on Maleficent's roost. I was wrong.

This is what I found.

Poor Betty had roosted on the porch.

At first I thought it would have been fascinating to see what happened but actually it was likely so disturbing that no one needs to see it.

So I moved everyone to where they should be and Hattie and Lilly roosted together.

I took the opportunity to weigh both Sydney (2.69 kg 5.93 lbs) and Aurora (2.91 kg 6.41 lbs). I weighed Hattie but realized too late that I had the scale set wrong.

Not to be picky but SHRA tax requires 2 chickens in the photo.
Just remember, nobody loves the tax collector!

How about this one entitled ‘the case of the disappearing blueberry’ as my tax payment instead?
Maggie and Diana swallow them whole. The Roadrunners both seem to believe that they first have to kill the blueberry. Needless to say, Maggie and Diana get to eat way more blueberries!

That photo was worth it! I love it! ❤️

Another day that I have to keep the family locked up in the coop. Makes me sad every time I have to go away from home. I’m sure that it’s safer for them, but it’s so unfair. I do have to let Arizona and Dakota roam free, otherwise they will get picked on by the others. It’s a chance that I have to take. Losing two birds as opposed to losing them all! :old:idunno:hit

I just can’t trust my neighborhood anymore. :(

Lilly's Poo

In case anyone wants to see it. I put a piece of cardboard under her last night to gather whatever came out. It's not a lot.

I'm trying to decided whether to culture it or not at this point. I'm not certain it will tell me anything useful.
