News From the Range

Lets start with proof that it is Spring. A Robin in the magnolia tree.

Song birds are back in force. There is lots of pleasant singing in the yard.

Does this mean the hawk has moved on? There has been no sign of it for weeks. Could we be that lucky?

Continuing on with the news......

Our latest story concerns the Iron Beak. Imagine how excited I was when I caught her pooping this out. Hers is in the circle. I don't know whose the other was.

Based upon that, I am ready to pronounce her cured. I do want to weigh her to see if she is back down to normal for her.

In sports today, we have video of everyone enjoying a nutritious snack of eggs and rice, except Betty. Watch her sprint over when I call her.

Yay for Iron Beak Lilly being cured and gooo Betty for “getting in there!”

I’ve been mentioning Tiny quite a bit with the soft shelled egg issues people are having here lately, so I thought I would post a couple current pics of her. She is a 3 year old Isbar, and has never laid “right” her eggs should be green, but they have been shell-less, very thinly shelled buff, or when I was trying to help her with even more calcium supplements pink. I had some big issues with temperature, humidity, and had a very rough first hatch in getting into chickens of 28 Isbar Eggs I hatched out three successfully. Tiny was an assisted hatch, and a runt. I didn’t think she would survive, especially when she finally started laying and then had so many issues with the soft shelled eggs. Threw out some scratch grains for Cholo and his ladies.

I did that outside today, rather yesterday haha (2am here...), I had thrown old hay out on the snow and the threw scratch onto that, they had a blast scratching around finding bits of grain

That’s it… @BY Bob we need an ear worm tax… that’s going to be stuck in my head ALL night now!

Don’t forget most of the components of those new “clean” gas free electric vehicles I like to remind a certain environmental protection advocate friend with one of that as often as possible. Oh, and see this is my diesel heater! Totally great, if you are going to end up doing any significant car camping etc you should Totally get one, way better than this propane heater. Yeah those solar panels aren’t doing Anything right now, so we run this gasoline generator about two hours each night for our electric heater and charging up all the batteries… I could literally see his eye twitching. I checked my chickies on the cam, because u know I am addicted to watching sleeping critters... Seems that my young rooster is crowing up a storm! Glad it isn't summer and windows all open!!!

Oh ps remind you friend of the environment and human health and safety issues of mining lithium in those poorer countries to supply us rich countries for our environmentally friendly vehicles.

I will stick to Ok Blue, made in KY and shipped here for my farm usage....
